Karyn Paisley, LPC
Karyn (they/them) is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has been practicing therapy since 2020. As a therapist, Karyn has experience working in outpatient settings, substance abuse recovery programs, group settings, and college counseling services. Karyn enjoys outpatient therapy the most due to the ability to build long term relationships and witness clients’ growth.
They are dedicated to supporting clients ages 15 and older seeking individual therapy and welcomes folks of all backgrounds and identities. Karyn is a LGBTQ+ and Health at Every Size affirming therapist. Karyn specializes in complex trauma and PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Karyn’s experience also extends to body image and eating disorders, areas that require a gentle and collaborative approach. Karyn competed in cross country and track for 10 years and at the collegiate level, understanding challenges that athletes face. Karyn’s experiences have enabled them to address body image issues, self-esteem challenges, and the impact of competition on mental well-being, particularly for women and female presenting athletes. Karyn is collaborative in their care andcommunicates with health care providers to support client’s wellbeing in and out of the therapy space.
Karyn’s approach to therapy is person centered and rooted in collaboration and compassion. They utilize Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Internal
Family Systems, Intuitive Eating, and trauma informed care into their therapy space. Karyn has a passion for treating trauma and has specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dissociation using EMDR to assist individuals towards healing and post traumatic growth.
Beyond their work, you’ll often find Karyn exploring the outdoors through backpacking and biking, channeling their creativity into various art forms, playing video games, and spending time with loved ones and their puppy, Eddie.
