Meet the Team
Jennifer Burkel, LCSW
Jen Burkel (she/her) welcomes the opportunity to share her authentic, compassionate, and thoughtful approach to the work of assisting clients in finding their path. She sees therapy as a partnership in discovering each individual’s truth. Jen believes that through our struggles we can create meaning and thereby transform into stronger, more resilient versions of ourselves. Jen blends a playful spirit with deep compassion to guide people to experience greater acceptance and joy in their lives.
Jen has spent the last 20 + years helping people in our community. She has worked with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, community violence, and more. Jen has worked diligently throughout her career to be open and affirming with people who identify in myriad ways regarding socio-economic status, gender, race, sexual orientation, and ability. She focuses on working with individuals and families of children 12+, as well as adults who are looking to make sense of life at any stage. Jen is happy to work with survivors of trauma, children of parents with substance use issues, people struggling with anxiety or depression. She draws heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and uses techniques from Brainspotting, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, family systems, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Motivational Interviewing.
Jen believes strongly that there is always opportunity for growth and that the very act of reaching for that growth is an act of courage. Jen blends compassion, accountability, humor, and hope in her work with individuals, adolescents, and families.
